There is much glory among the clouds, or so they say when the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb comes into discussion. The supremacy of the Ducati Multistrada 1200 came to an end, and Lightning electric bikes, as well as Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R have started to steal the show. For the 2015 Race to the Clouds, two new interesting pretenders have showed up: the new Ducati 1299 Panigale S and the Kawasaki Ninja H2.

The outright 2-wheel record still belongs to the Ducati Multistrada 1200, as Carlin Dunne’s 9:52.819 2012 performance is still safe. Last year, Jeremy Toye won the Pikes Peak race aboard a 2013 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, but the 9:58.687 falls short when it comes to pose a real threat to the record holder.

Can new, more powerful machines break the standing record?

That was me on the 1299. We were much faster than last year but i pushed too hard and ended up in the sump. I was going for it. Tough day to say the least but i walked away without a scratch and thats a win in my book. Ill be back next year on the 1299S and going for the win. The bike ran amazing on race day but we had to reset all the ecu perameters to zero at the starting area and let the bike learn at 8500ft at 0-20% throttle.

Takahiro who was suppose to race the H2 in the same class couldnt get his bike through customs. Hes very fast! I expect him to be there next year. It was hard enough trying to chase don canet down on the prototype victory project156 bike. Had i finished the race we wouldve won since don also crashed.
