That suck ! I'm wondering if that could be caused by the distortion of the swing arm during hard acceleration in low gear. My friend notice that my wheel was twisting when I was hard on gas in 1 gear. I did not notice any damage on the sprocket yet !

Chain tension

I just learned about this a bit at the track yesterday. You want to adjust the chain to where you think it should be, checking with the suspension under full load. You want to make sure that when bottomed out the chain is not too tight because this can bend the transmission shaft (term for the piece that holds the front drive sprocket?). Perhaps this is what is happening with you guys...or maybe you have too much slack and everything is taking a beating causing this.....
