I do most of the work in my bikes myself. At 601 miles I change the oil, adjusted the chain, change to GP shifting and check all the bolts to be properly tide. No how do I remove the Sevice Warning in the display.
This is my first Ducati so I don't know much about her.

they wanted to charge me the full amount for the first service, 200+ suppostly it was 50% discount, I did find out that the warning service will not come back again until the 7.5K service.
I already know that the 7.5k service is around 800+ US dollars.

I was quoted $166 for the first service ( basically just an oil change) and $360 for the second (check valves and oil change) per Ducati's marketing stratagy. They intended to reduce the cost of maintenance on the 848. I see the term "stealership" may apply in this instance!

According to Ducati, all 08 1098 and 848 will get 50% discount on service, if that is true I was quoted 200+ for the first service witch basicaly is an oil change and to tension the chain, now that means that regularly was 400.00 for an oil change, If I remember I purchase a Ducati Motorcycle not a Ferrari or Lamborguini. I got some one else to do it for $104.00 and that included Repsol Oil, K&N oil filter and swaping from standard shifting to GP shifting. The service warning still on but at this point I will figure out a way of going arounded it.

Ducati doesn't advertise a 50% discount on service. What they advertise is that your service costs will be up to 50% less compared to the service for models of '06 and older. They arrive at this reduced percentage thru longer intervals between required service and less labor needed when you do bring it in.

I have done all the service on my bikes also, unless it's a major service or warranty issue. When my service light came on I took it to my dealer and they reset it for free. I gave them a tip for doing it, but I have a good relationship with them as I have gave them alot of business. If you have a battery tender, they just plug it in and reset it (2 minute deal). You gotta be kidding me if a respectable dealer is going to charge you $200 plus for that?

For the cost of the first service, you can buy Technoresearch's VDST and reset the service light all you want. It's also useful for setting your TPS, CO and Idle...If you work on your Duc at all, it's worth it. John
