I must say that I am very impressed with the quality of Shift-Tech's Carbon Fiber Products. :)

I received my CF tail inserts and belt-buckle tank guard. They are absolutely stunning !!!

I have some questions regarding installation:
  • What is the best way to install the tail inserts without making a mess with the adhesive? Should I use masking tape around the tail section to block off any overrun? Should I apply the adhesive all around the perimeter of the CF insert, or just make dabs along the inner corners?
  • What is the best way to apply the adhesive tape on the belt-buckle tank guard so that it has the best attachment characteristics?
Sorry if these questions sound silly, but I would rather ask first before :flickoff: it up.

With the tail inserts, don't be afraid to use a liberal amount of silicone. Once you have a nice and solid bead around the entire edge, use your finger with a bit of even pressure and follow the edge all around between the CF insert and tail. Once you have it smoothed out, you're done! Let everything dry up and clean up will be really easy. Just one thing to watch out for, DO NOT get any silicon on your seat. IT WILL stain it!!!

As for the tank guard, use automotive grade 3M double sided tape, or better known as emblem tape. Working on the inside edge, make a continuous tape line following the natural shape of the CF piece. Once you have that "border" in place, now apply some random but evenly spaced single stripes to the center of the CF piece (where your belt buckle would rest, if you actually would wear one in the first place). This will ultimately keep as much of the CF piece off the tank as possible, and obviously in place the longest.
