My girl's Monster has a single slim ballast setup for her low beam. It's basically the same thing as the regular sized one, just smaller. The igniter itself however is in-line with the harness, not internal like you find on the regular size ballasts. Nevertheless the slim ballasts def look trick...

For $20.00!! That's a steal! Sounds too good to be true.

Let us know how the installation is. You could probably fit them in the front nose fairing where they will stay cool.

Keep us posted!
Hey smeelge... It is a steal! They're stealing $95 in shipping from ya! :jerkoff:

But... it says FREE shipping LOL

I have a set and was working on the install. I ran into a little problem with the connections and I have not figured it out yet. It may be an pilot issue but I emailed the company for clarification. I will let you know what I find out. I was planning on doing a write up with picts but that will have to wait.

Man that sucks!

I hope I can get mine installed without any hangups. I will post detailed pics of the kit once it arrives.

If anyone sees anything that might slow the install down once you see the pics, please let us know.

You have 2 ballasts one for low one for high. I just ordered mine too :) I got the old style ones which are too big for my liking. Hopefully these will just slip right in place of the old ones. HID's are awsome, they have revolutionised my filtering technique in london traffic, cars move to the side 4 or 5 cars a head. Had one guy complain I was blinding him! In my opinion, one of the best and mandatory mods you can do.

You still have high beams. HIDs take a few seconds to "warm" up though so if you need your high beams instantly, you may wanna only do the low beam.

I havent seen a 1098 with HIDs in person but there are some pics floating around on the forum that look really nice.

I have read that the low beam is more than enough to not need the high. I am however doing both.

So the set you got will cover both then?

Was that an easy install? Someone earlier in this thread mentioned not being able to get it successfully installed yet.

Most every HID kit out there (small or regular sized ballast) is a plug-n-play install. The most time consuming (hardest) part of the whole install is removing fairings to mount the ballasts in a good area. With the large ballasts, you must often have to use the included metal mounts, as they're usually to heavy to double stick tape anywhere, other than maybe a completely flat and unobstructed surface, but with the slim ballasts, you can get them to stay in place with some heavy duty 3M double stick tape. FYI, the slim ballasts also come with their own metal mounts, and that is what I used on my girl's Monster. Hard to see from the angle I shot that pic from, but you can't see the ballast when you're looking at the bike from either side. It's that slim. It's location, although close to the engine and all, is actually kept "air-cooled" when the bike is in motion...
