Need a close up of the rear of the floater button. Those *appear* to be replacement floater buttons from either Speigler or direct from Brembo as available on Gotham.

Pretty sure those are not stock floater buttons from 1996 as they were stainless steel items back then, and riveted on rather than held in place with circlips (also called e-ring retainers) and spring washers.



If they are the aftermarket Speigler or the replacement Brembo items, I'd think you could simply rebuild them, depending upon what it is that is worn.



If the carrier is worn, you'll obviously need new carriers. If the buttons are worn, the link above are the replacements and you can just replace them all. I'd have doubt that the rotor ring itself is worn.



All that said, I've seen plenty of them with the same amount of play yours has and the owners of those bikes were not at all worried about the amount of play or the noise made when putzing along at slow speed..........sean

Are you saying these are likely usable in this shape? I don't know about putzing speed but this bike may see some high double digit riding, but not 100.

If this is within tolerance for some folks, thats useful to know.

Yes. Usable indeed. My 916SPS with full floaters was the same. Not at all worried.
How many miles has it on it?

Thanks Bob. 14k showing. Runs quite well and I was able to get it around the block for the first time today with the reassurance that these brakes aren't about to kill me.

I definitely don't want to push it with these belts of unknown age, but in due time!

Lethlorian,

You're ahead of the game. My '95 900SS-CR came with firmly riveted buttons. It took me, a drill press, and most of a can of cutting fluid to remove the OEM buttons so that I could replace them with loose buttons and make the rotors sound like yours do now.

Those rotors are good

Those rotors are supposed to be like that. They are cast iron full float Brembos. Ver sought after and better braking performance than the stainless CR's that don't float much.

I would assume these rotors are junk?

There's tons of slop in the buttons. Can these be rebuilt? Do I need to replace the rotors entirely? Replica / aftermakret options?
