I had all but convinced myself that a Hypermotard could soon be waking my neighbours....until I saw one up close! The sub frame and chassis welds looked like a back street garage apprentice had done them and the orange peel paint effect on the chassis didnt help at all.

It was the only HM in the shop (an S model) so nothing to compare against but it took me all of 10 seconds to decide against it. None of the other Ducs, 1098, multistrada, 848 etc were anything like as bad as this.

Was this a bad bike or something that just doesnt bother those that bought one?

I took one out for a demo the other day. Man is that thing sweet. I mean it's not quite my style of riding but that thing is a wheelie machine and it devourers the really tight twisties. I don't know if little details like that could keep me off that bike.

If it was a little detail I wouldnt have worried but the welds looked terrible, to the point of appearing unsafe. It sounds like it may just have been a bad example if nobody else has seen this as it really was quite obvious. If its still there next time I am in the shop, I will take a picture.
