Buy a 1098 they are light, fast, have monobloc brakes and a very good engine. Riding position I found better than the 749/999 and great lights.
Buy the latest model you can afford they get better as the years progress, some people get romantic about certain models, not me I want the best for what I can afford. But only you can decide what to get.
