So … I know I can’t be the only out there who can’t afford a 70G bike or think that even the “standard” 1098 is a good chunk of change compared to the Jap Bikes.

What does everyone do for a living? Especially you guys that are buying the RR?

Me? I repair and fix digital copiers and do IT work and no, I can’t afford the RR, not even at 50G! Hell not even at 40 would I buy it!! Love the bike, love to see it, could never justify buying it.

No offense to anyone.

Actually when I bought my base i was unemployed, I loved saying that during the first week when people were looking with envy. I work as a boilermaker and I was making the transition back to my real calling of running a geophysics field crew. It worked out perfectly that I had four weeks off in between to enjoy the bike. I'll probably have a few more careers in my life before I'm through. Also where I live housing is quite cheap, so with only a few hundred a month for a mortgage it leaves more free for other stuff. Oh yeah, no wife or kids mostly because I travel about 8 months of the year.

Here's a twist for you....I'm a stay at home Dad. Wife's an I/O Psychologist works for a large corporation, I focus on the kids, my photography and about 10 other avocations....In short, I'm a Fun Director for my family. Let's just say that my family has lots of fun! Currently I have 12 motorcycles, and plenty of other toys as well. I've said it before, I'm the luckiest man I know! Oh, and I'll be picking up my R at the end of March.

No 1098 yet, but soon..

I am an independent business software consultant (specifcally SAP software). It pays the bills, but that Fun Director job is looking real good right now..:p

Hi,

I train the film and TV industry how to achieve their special effects e.t.c using software.... lord of the rings stuff e.t.c. Nope, can't afford an RR and if I could I'd still buy the 1098R as it would be more enjoyable to ride on the road.

I sell Volkswagens in Freehold NJ. Been doing it for almost a year, worked in a Honda Motorcycle dealership before, which had a Ducati/BMW sister store next to it. I've loved VWs and AUDI since I could remember, and my next step is to finish my business degree and go corporate. I might also be going back to the Ducati dealership as a salesman after the BMW leg of it goes into their new building.

Either way, I love bikes and cars and people, so selling them seems like a natural choice.

As affordability goes, I cant afford my car ( 07 WRX) or my new on-order car (08 Jetta TDI Sportwagen) or my bike ( 08 1098) or my insurance, bills, etc.

But the way I see it, you only live once, and since I have some quick toys, I'd rather die knowing I enjoyed them than die in regret
