Hi all, I want to change the engine sprocket from the 15 tooth to the 14 tooth on a '07 Gt1000 and was wondering if the chain will need to be shortened? Anyone do this and did they have to shorten the chain, thanks.
not really familiar with the gt1000, but i imagine there's some room to play, like with a lot of Ducatis. if your rear wheel is not all the way back already (not sure why it would be), then you'll be fine.
Since the swingarm pivot and the front sprocket shaft centerlines are different, if you jack the bike to get the rear wheel off the ground (extending the swingarm) you'll gain enough additional chain slack to allow you to change front sprockets without breaking the chain.
