Hey folks, I could use some advice. I'm looking for a 15T front sprocket for my 999S. While they're at it I might have my dealer install a new rear and even a chain.

Keep in mind I want the best performance while maintaining safety, so I think I'd like to keep a 525 chain. My real question is who's got the best sprockets? I'd love to get a black or dark gray rear one.

Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!

Some DP sprockets are a gray/Ti color, also check out the STEALTH brand(rear) sprockets.

Wait a minute? Isn't the orginal a 15 tooth? Most guys (me inlcuded) went down to a 14 tooth and i thought it to me one of the better mods I've made so far. It 15 tooth front isn't the same as stock what was stock?

Stock is 15 and something like 36. I have 14/42, my bike is quick as hell but a little jerky and violent for a newbie who hasn't even seen a track yet. (top speed is only about 154!) Believe me I love being quick in every gear but I don't think it's appropriate yet if ever.

So my plan is to keep the 42 and get a 15, per my own thoughts and my tech's recommendation. I'll keep the 14 in the spare parts bin just in case I don't like it and want to play around with the rear instead.

I'm tickled with the stock gearing. Why go to a 14t front? They tried selling it to me at the 600 mile service. I really don't think it needs quicker acceleration. In fact, one big reason I didn't was I didn't want any worse fuel mileage.

My bike is new

but I took all of the parts from the old bike including the gearing. Now I've pretty much learned what I like and what I don't like...time to change the front sprocket and see how I like it. I think it will be just what I need.
