Race tires

tend to do that I guess..my Pilot Races are like that too. But I thought it was mainly from street riding.

Check out my rear tire after one track day. It sure looks like a big chunk is about to fall out. Reminds me of the old Metzler smile problem from the late 90's. I am installing Bridgestone BT002 Pros this week.

I am sure there is nothing wrong with Pirelli's I have used them in the past and they work great. I think the problem was running the tire at Brainerd in 96 degree ambient and probably 125-140 degree surface temp. My guess is the tires simply got so hot that after the event when the cooled they cracked. The crack is right on the part of the tire that is used in turn one and two which are both super fast (175mph and 140mph). I was just checking to see if anyone else has had an issue before I whine to the dealer for help!! LOL.

Holy SHITE

175 and 140? You're talking about the straight before the corner I assume right? Tell me you're not talking about the turn itself...I don't know enough about it to determine.....

Holy shit, that’s not good!! Keep the tyre and show it to the Pirelli rep!!!
I’ve run Super Corsa SC1 & SC2 on the track and the road for years now. I have never seen anything like that. What tyre pressure did you start of with,

I super heated a set of Pirelli’s on a hot day once, they just turn to mush, they don’t split like that. I could feel the front pushing, thats why I like SC's they give you good feedback!!!! They are the best IMHO

Looking at the tyre you were not pushing it to hard, I’d be interested to here what the rep had to say about it.

Below is a picture of my front tyre that I pushed to hard during a two-up session with my wife on the back. We killed the front tyre under hard braking going into the corners on a very tight hard braking track here in Australia. You should have seen the rear tyre….LOL..LOL…

The other pic is us in mid corner two-up.....
