I was always told that before you go buying everything under the sun for your bike you should have your suspension set up correctly. After I had mine done professionally I felt a night and day difference. I had a CBR 600RR and was wondering if setting up the proper sag is the same on the 1098? Also I was wondering if anyone had any settings for the front and rear shock they may recommend? Finally do you think a dealer would help setup the suspension (sag etc) I don't feel like driving an hour to the last guy I used if I can drive 10 minutes to the dealer or even better do it myself. FYI I am 200 pounds. Thanks alot.

Depends on what you are using the bike for, if you ride only the street then taking the bike to the dealer to set it up should be good enough, as they will probably have recommended setting based solely on your weight. If of the other hand you like to run you 1098 on the track than I would take it to a race shop and have then really talk you through what you are trying to get out of it.

Suspension setup is a pretty complicated science and unless you really have the time to study and understand its best left to professionals.

I would call the mfg and get their recommendations. I built a bike using Ohlins rear shocks and they were extremely helpful in setting up the sag etc. It's just a baseline anyway and then you have to suck it and see.

Yea that is true but In all honesty I think it was a bit of overkill. I had the thing tuned so well I could have drove it to the track and been good to go. However I don't go to the track lol. I think i am going to have the dealer set the sag for me. I will show up in my full gear so I get as accurate as possible sag. Like someone else said they probably have preset settings for things like the rebound. Thanks for the link by the way.
