Tail light installation

I have a silly question. Upon putting my bike back together and re installing my tail light, i have been having trouble plugging it back in. Is this the correct plug for the tail light? Does it require a lot of force to put back in? Honestly, i was afraid to ask anyone because out of everything i put back on, this is the only thing giving me problems. Its a ducati 999 bip.

The fit should be snug but never forced. Unplug and make sure none of the pins are bent or recessed. I'm not familiar with the 999 but am experienced with general electronics. I'm a former aviation electrician.
They do not appear to be bent. But that could be due to the angle at which im viewing the plug. They are definitely not recessed though. The plug is welded to one of the head pipes with plastic. Would it be safe to remove the plug from the pipe you think to get a clearer view? Thanks for your reply btw.

That's quite likely the problem.
Welded , its melted to the header pipe! Pull it loose, clean things up, connect the plug and zip-tie it out of harms way.
Yeah, i know its melted to the pipe. I meant to say melted but the auto correct on my phone kept saying welded. But thanks for the advice. Im glad you got a chuckle out of it :)
