What do you call the part that the pin in the front of the gas tank goes and what is it and whats the apx used cost? (anyone got one?) is it part of the air box?

The pin is mounted onto the tank and it slides into hole on the airbox. A lot of people take them off when they paint tanks and forget to put them back on again.

587.1.023.1A (front connection)
700.1.018.1A (rubber pad)

Those are older part numbers, but if you called up a dealer, they could translate.

Just on a side note here, be aware the tank mount pin for a 998/996r is different to the 748/916/996 one. Maybe the 748r pin is the same.
