Last night on my way home the temp gauge was going crazy! any were from reading low to almost overheating, also noticed when the gauge was reading low the rpm was higher and rpm normal when gauge reading higher! the coolant is full, is suspect the temp sensor is bad, still have to hook up the scanner and see what the computer is seeing! Anybody else have this problem

Anybody have any ideas! i checked all the grounds everything tight and clean!

So riddle me this, does the temp increase/decrease at a high rate of speed, or is it moving very slow up and down the scale?

No its going crazy! it will go from reading low till 90 c then 50,70 and so on in a few seconds i was also thinking maybe the thermostat was sticking

So one second its reading 50 and literally the next second it jumps to "LOW"? It doesn't read anything in the middle, it doesn't slowly go up and slowly go back down right?

If thats accurate, its a bad sensor. If it does go slowly up and slowly back down, it could be something else.

It goes really fast! i did again last night,pulled the left fairing off and hooked up the scanner and it was showing the same thing so i'm almost positive its the sensor,just going to pick up a new sensor!

Yep, I would agree, replace that sensor!

Put the coolant temp sensor in tonight and problem solved! the sensor from ducati is 100 bucks or you can go to napa and get for 20 bucks! part #TS5520 same sensor with the same specs!
