Hi all,

Been looking everywhere for my answer but no luck.

Purchasing a tricolore however here in Australia it comes with slip-ons termis instead of a full system as I believe it does in the USA.

Over here it also comes with an air filter and a different ECU.

Would it be possible to later upgrade to a full system without having to purchase new mufflers and ECU? So just purchase headers?

In other words, are the ECU and cans that come with the Termi slip ons the same as the ECU and cans of the full system?

Also does full/slip-ons make a difference in sound?

Am I correct to say that the full system give more top end power and would perform similarly to the slip-ons in the low and mid range?

Thanks for your answers.

That doesn't sound right, the Tricolore should come with a stock system on the bike and a full Termi system in the crate. The slip-ons help by getting rid of the cats so they'll help flow but the full system(or any brand full system) also eliminates the butterfly and is significantly larger in diameter. With a full system you will see gains in both torque and HP, don't believe all that "you loose torque" stuff you hear about larger free flowing pipes.

in Australia Ducati is not as generous as they are in the USA, the tricolore is delivered with a termi slip on system with a new ecu an air filter but the bike out of the crate is fitted with a stock slip on system.

after some more searching i now know the mufflers are the same for the full system and slipons however i still dont know if i need a new ECU if i was to later upgrade to the full system.
is the full system much louder than the termi slipons?
Thanks

The slip-on ECU is programmed to hold the butterfly valve open constantly, where the full system ECU doesn't read the valve at all since it is removed. The slip-on ECU may work with the full system, but you'll get an error code. I don't know if the maps are different or not, but I believe the DP ECU's serve only the purpose of fixing any error codes (meaning, no performance map). There is not much difference at all between the stock pipes and the Termi's, I believe they even weigh the same. Have you considered just disabling the butterfly valve? There's a good write up in here on how to do it.

saddly so they do...
I have checked at a few dealers and they all tell me that it doesnt come with the full system.
So essentially if i was to upgrade later down the track i would need a different ECU correct?

Well the full system comes with the Race ECU so yeah, I would think so.

I'm a bit confused, the tri here comes with termi slipons and ECU, would i still have to disable the butterfly if the ecu and slip ons were fitted?
