Termignoni Slip On exhaust Up Map Key

For any of you guys that purchase a Termignoni Slip on exhaust kit for the 2015 M821. The kit comes with Carbon machined billet end caps, removable db killer and a Performace MAP KEY. Have you guys succesfully downloaded or unlocked your units ecu with the Map Key provided and changed the mapping on your bike. i was told that you will know from when you turn on the bike, before you start it, your dash would say "RACE" or "RACING" on the display then will switch to your normal dash read out. Apparently, this is what the other ducati dealership told me if the MAP KEY was downloaded promptly when the Termignoni exhaust was installed. Mine doesn't say that first, it just goes in sequence to normal display.
Anyways, i had bought my new bike late last year and had the Termi exhaust installed new from a different Ducati dealership when delivered. I now brought in my unit for its first 1000km tune up to another Ducati dealer because it was the closest to me and they had found out that the Map Key that came with the Termi slip on was suppose to unlock the ecu and downloaded the change mapping to my ecu for the performance exhaust system, but was not done! The dealership where i bought my bike did give me this MAP KEY along with my oem exhaust back, but did not tell me that they did not install or remapped my bike with the key supplied with the kit for some reason! Now this procedure can only be set up correctly with the Ducati dealership DDA system and it is not just a plug and play do it yourself thing. I am just glad that they gave me the MAP KEY or i will not be able to do a correct set up without it. I just hope that there was no problem with it reason the original dealership didnt do this for me in the beggining?
I didnt feel any downfall on the bike since i got it and had been riding it normal not noticing any fault at all, but i assume that the mapping is not perfect. Anyways, i will need to bring back the bike to the dealer with the MAP KEY for them to sync to my bike and will see if i will notice any difference on bike.

Mine was done at the dealer and says RACE in the startup sequence. Has yours ran any differently without the flash? Mine seems to run a little rich with the flash..

Also, gotta ask... dB killers in or out? I'm in. Plenty loud with them in and avoid the slight bit of tinny sound with them out.

Hi AFdude,

I am taking mine to the dealer tomorrow with my "Up Map Key" for them to set up the mapping properly. I really would like to see that "RACE" on my start up too! I do have my db out and I can't say that I have any problem with it. It seems to run fine, just with little pops on down shifts, but nothing out of the ordinary. I just want my exhaust system tuned and mapped accordingly and hope to find an improvement if I can tell the difference after. I wonder how long the set up up loading the new mapping will take? I am excited to feel a difference!
Does anyone have any proof that slip-ons actually make difference? Butt-dyno doesn't count. Proper dyno results from same day, at the same shop etc.

I am new to motorcycle tuning but have been working on Euro cars for a long time and found all cat-back systems to be just for sound no matter what manufacturer said and even with a tune there was nothing noticeable.

I would like to be wrong, especially what the cost of exhaust systems for these bike are.
It probably wouldn't take too long for them to install the flash.

As for power changes, the butt dyno can be misleading. I wasn't expecting much with any power gains on the Termi slip-ons. The sound is amazing though. Also, I got mine done at my first service so I'm allowed to open it up a little more at the same time of getting the exhaust. I couldn't tell you if there truly is a difference between the two because under 6k the bike felt exactly the same and above 6k now is like uncharted territory for me. BIG FUN! I love this bike.

I've been disciplined in keeping it in Touring mode mostly for my first 1000 miles. The occasional jump to Sport mode is very rewarding especially with the +6kRPM and Termis. So maybe there is some truth to the power gains.
Don't get me wrong, last 3 exhausts I bought were purely for sound and well worth it! It's just that I see a lot of posts on forums where people are expecting noticeable gains. Especially if you install it right after break-in period where you've been taking it easy and then install slip-ons and put it in sport mode ...

But, just like everything else, if it puts a grin on your face, it is well worth it.
Finally got my Up map key and mapping done! First thing I notice are improvement on how Crisp and throttle response is now! No more pops on down shifting and oh boy this machine just felt like an angry monster that just woke up! Lol! I am glad that I found out about this up map key right way.
Anyways, to make a long story short, I had sent the bill $64 for the service to the other dealer and had told them that I was upset that I was not informed that the install was not complete when I bought it. They said that the update or software wasn't available yet to unlock my ecu or something until March of 2015. My bike was delivers last Nov/14'. I thinks that's BS! Ducati had made a note not to install kit to customers yet until software was available, but they went ahead and installed it anyways without letting me know the details. They apologies to me and with that they are also sending me a $100 gift certificate for the trouble! I am happy with that! Technology Speedometer Electronics Vehicle Auto part

Anyone that install this themselves did it come with instructions? I received mine today with no instructions. Thats fine it looks easy enough but I mainly want the instruction for torque specs. If someone has instructions could you please send them to me?
Thanks

Nope about 350 miles. With 3 little boys it's hard to find time to get out there much.
Originally I was content with the stock cans on my bike. But now after seeing how amazing the Termi's look, I may just have to bite the bullet and get some myself. ;)

The sound and looks are amazing but one other benefit I see is the weight. I don't have a number but the stock weighs considerably more. I'd be very interested in seeing what the weight difference is.
most cost effective ways to loose weight:

1. Get a lithium battery

2. Loose some own weight (fat)

I've lost 14Kg in two year, which should lower the CoG, as well as raise the power to weight a tad 😎

Lovesigs, were you able to install race map with the Ducati Map Key yourself?

Thanks,

Nope dealer has to do it. They charged me 1/2 labor so $54.
Do you need to buy the Map Up Key or can I go to the dealer and ask them if they have that key and upload the new mapping to my ECU?

By the way...:
i have mounted a carbon exhaust from Racetech with detachable db-killer. My db-killer is still inside. Police is controlling to much on this case in the Netherlands.
Oh.... just for the form... the Termi sticker has been put on by my cousin 8)

The cable of the exhaust-valve has been detached by myself. There are no errors and only with this work done the bike already sounds better and is smoother!!

On the latest Ducati Monster day here in the Netherlands I could listen to the difference between the stock, Termis, Arrow and my Racetech. I can say my Racetech sounds the best. The Termis were a little to decent for me. But thats maybe because the db-killers were still inside.

Thanks for the heads up.
I'm ordering my Termi's next month.
As easy as slip on's are to install, I might let the dealer do it so the mapping is correct.
