The INTERMOT is in full-swing in Cologne, which means that Ducati is ready to drop its new Scrambler model on the world. A highly marketed machine, which has drawn attention from Ducati’s 1299 superbike and new Multistrada, the Ducati Scrambler is another brand extension for the Italian company.
A further foray into the off-road world, as well as a strong offering for new riders, the 2015 Ducati Scrambler is priced at $8,595 — making it the cheapest model in the Ducati lineup.
The 2015 Ducati Scrambler comes in four models, which use the company’s 803cc air-cooled v-twin engine design, which is borrowed from the Monster 796. Power thus comes out at 75hp, with peak torque being 50 lbs•ft, but the focus on the Scrambler is really more about the aesthetic of the bike and experience on the machine.
The four variations differ mostly in cosmetically. The Icon version (above) comes in yellow and red, and sits in the middle of the other three models: Urban Enduro, Full Throttle, and Classic.
The Urban Enduro comes in a “Wild Green” paintjob, and is for enduro style enthusiasts. The Full Throttle is more flat-track oriented. And the Classic is a throwback to the 1970’s, and is for riders who are looking for an uncompromising riding pleasure, with the comfort of a modern-day bike.
Bosch’s dual-channel ABS system is standard on all four model, and the only other technological thrills come in the form of a minimalist solitary round gauge cluster and the Scrambler’s ring of LED marker lights around the single-headlight housing. The rest of the bikes are refreshingly simplistic.
