I don't know about others, but I found that the stock set up had an abrupt throttle especially noticeable at low speeds around town. Don't know how this would affect driveabliity on track but I found it a bit annoying when using the hyper for grocery shopping. I was informed that this was caused by the bikes being set up a bit lean.

At the 600 mile service I asked AMS to install the new exhaust and. as an after thought, the DP race cam in the bike. I strongly recommend both upgrades as they take the performance of the bike to a new level. The AMS dyno shows figures of 92HP and 70 torque as compared to about 75HP for stock bikes. Don't know what the impact of the cams would be with the standard exhaust, but it really seems to work with the race system.

Only down side, for those who care, it that the bike is a bit cranky when cold.

Did you lose any low to mid power with the cams? I was thinking about going with the full race system but did not want to lose any low to mid power with the cam install. I did a demo ride on the S model with the full race system without the cams before I ordered my bike. Could you tell me a little more about the crankyness when cold? Thanks in advance for the help.....

No power loss

I did not loose any power at the low end.

When cold the bike does not idle, since there is not fast idle control on the newer bikes, you have to blip the throttle to keep it running when you are at rest or coming to a stop. This problem goes away one you run the bike for a few minutes to warm it up. Once warm, it has a nice lumpy idle.

If you can put up with that, get the cam. Trust me, you can really tell the difference.

Thanks for the input. I wonder if they reset your tps again if it would help your cold idle some? It may just be the cam profile. Maybe the computer has a way to adjust the cold idle circuit with some software. I know they can the regular mixture some. Either way it sounds like the setup for me. Thanks again.

Cold Idle Setting

The cams come with a new ECU. Jeff Nash set the bike up for me and tuned it on the dyno. He tells me that if the idle is set high enough while cold its way too high when warm. It just runs like other high strung motors I have been associated with in the past.

On the Ducati website hypermotard /accessories / engine upgrades:

Racing camshafts

Set of racing camshafts with new profiles to optimize engine performance at medium-to-high rpm. The kit comes with an ECU calibrated for use with these camshafts and with the complete racing exhaust system (part no. 96450808B). Matching these parts ensures considerable increase of the bike's performance. Stated power increase was measured on a vehicle with this configuration.

AVERAGE POWER INCREASE OF ABOUT 10%. Data calculated using an inertia dynamometer

SKU code #96451008B

Don't know about the High Compression Pistons - assume there are several sources. A lot more expensive than the cams.
