Interesting Tyre Thread

Try some metzeler racetechs they are the same as the super corsa pros.I got a set from
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/ pretty cheap.$222.99 for the rear and $147.99 for the front. They are the exact same tire as the Pirelli except the tread pattern is diff and alot cheaper.
Interesting thread. I am in need for new tyres and have looked into many brands but Metzeler was never a front runner. I ran Metzelers ten years ago on my 748 and they were good tyres , both on road and at the odd track day. My question is, are the Sportech m3's a good tyre for the 1098? In Oz they are much cheaper than the Pirelli scp's. Any feed back would be great. A local dealer said that Metzeler make Pirelli tyres. Is this like the industry i am in? Many of the best golf balls are made by the same factory.

Cheers Smarty

Get in touch with Dan Kyle Racing for Pirelli Dragon SCP tires. I just got a set for something like $320.00 US dollars shipped here in the USA. The tires were made Feb. 2007. Both tires for the price of the rear from other sources, hard to beat that. I also got the Ohlins steering damper for my 1098 in case anyone is interested for $340.00 which is about $100.00 less than other sources.

I have been looking around for a good price, can you tell me where you are getting the damper at such a good price? Here it costs me $550

Less crashing, more riding! Getting better at the riding part rather, thanks for asking. I started fidling with the suspension, and got the shock of my life on how far the settings was out from the standard setup. Heres the comparison:Was vs stock settings

Front:
Preload: 18mm vs 18mm delivery setting was about double thataprox 40mm
Compression:1.5 turns vs 3/4turns
Rebound: 7 clicks vs 12 clicks

Rear:
Preload: 14mm vs 14mm
Compression: 4 turns vs 2 turns
Rebound: ? vs 2 turns

Couldnt check the rear rebound, because I cant get to the screw. Any advice on how to adjust it?

That adds up to $370.98. Right now it looks like swmototires.com is going to charge $343.90 for the tires delivered, but I am slightly hazy on whether they have honed in on the right model. I will report later. The Dan Kyle Racing idea is interesting, but they don't appear to be really in the tire business. I will send them an email, though, to cover that possibility for a source.

there's a hole in the left side of ur swingarm to let srewdriver through.
I know where you adjust it, the problem is that the screw is not alligned with the hole in the swingarm. Its about 3-4 cm lower

Southwest Moto Tires cannot source these tires. I sent an email to Dan Kyle Racing to see if they can. Any other ideas out there? I can't believe these tires are unavailable at a reasonable cost. MAW has them for a total of $465.90, which is very expensive.

In mo I think the sportech is trash. If you dont want to pay the extra for the stock tires I would suggest pilot power 2ct's. About $200 us for rear and they are good tires with a longer life

Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa

I just installed the new Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa front tire in the SC2. WOW what a great tire. I was told to rum 28 to 30 psi even for street use due to the fact that they are DOT race tires. I was running 32 psi on the original Dragon Supercorsa Pro's front and 34 rear. They work great and provide great feedback.

I will be replacing the rear stock Dragon Supercorsa Pro with the Diablo Supercorsa also in an SC2. I will run 30 psi in that tire for the street.

I purchased both tires at the track from Tigershark Racing who is the US West Coast Pirelli road race tire distributor. The front was priced at $165 for a 120/70 ZR17 and the rear was $209 for the 190/55 ZR17. Here is there website; www.tigersharkracing.com.

Good luck.

I ditched the pirelli's once my rear wore out. I went michelin pilot power. the rear went from 190/55zr17 to 190/50zr17. I can hardly notice a difference. Plus i buy a full set for $195 whereas the pirellis were more than 2 just for the rear. I might have a ducati but i'm not rich. if i wear out a tire every 4000 miles im not gonna run pirellis all day, when its near impossible to tell the difference, and i doubt most of us push the tire THAT hard where a pirelli would stick and a michelin wouldn't.
