What do you Tri owners think of the gold stripe on the gas tank? I love the bike, and the color combo, but my only gripe is that gold stripe...
I like it but you have to look at it in context with the whole bike. If you look at the first picture, the gold stripe creates a vertical line centered between a horizonal line of the gold wheels. It also lifts the words "DUCATI" on the gas tank.

Also, green and red don't really blend very well (opposite ends of the spectrum) but red & gold and green & gold do blend. So, I think the purpose of the gold frame, stripe, and wheels helps tie all the colors together. The white adds contrast to the red with a bit of raceyness.

When I first saw the Tricolore, I wasn't impressed at all. Only after looking at some of the details and they all work together did I start to appreciate it.

Also, I understand there's some tradition in the gold stripe from a time when racers were able to look at the side of the tank to see how much fuel they had left. So there's heritage in the bike's livery.

:yo: That would be the main reason according to all articles I've read.

I think the tricolore looks nice in person, much like how the black looks up close versus pics. I like your tricolore and congrats on getting one. Because of her color scheme, you will likely get the love it, I would love it it was in another color, to hate the color but love the bike. If you love it, awesome. You own a rare bike amongst rarified super sexy 1098 and 1098s, so consider yourself blessed. Enjoy the attention, but most of all enjoy the performance of an amazing and passionate art form of motorcycling.

I think the bike is actually striking to say the least. Looking at all the red ones is cool, but it's nice that they built one that looks different. I actually would love to see a white bike with gray wheels and frame and red accents (Or vice versa).I also have heard that the Gold/Bronze stripe on the tank imitates the see through area on 0lder bikes that was how they were able to tell how much fuel was onboard. Obviously I am biased, but I love the look. I'm waiting for some cool parts to come from Europe and will be installing them ASAP......
