Did an oil change on the MTS today... Learned that the 1198.4 has two oil filters... Why does Ducati use two oil filters? Have never seen this before...

Does the DVT work on the oil?

If so then I'd imagine it needs to be seriously clean.

check your Oil status

Guys I dont know about the two filters but be careful.... After 3500km my oil status was far below the minimum.. we had to fill around 1.5l... and I am not the only one...

Seams like the new Multi is an oil killer... maybe only at the beginning... but not enough oil can kill the engine!


maybe it was also because here in Switzerland the temperatures went high like hell, I was riding with around 35°outside temperature... so it was very very warm for the bike.

Just check from time to time your oil status

Thanks for the heads-up Julian... I am bad for not checking the oil level periodically. When I did the oil change yesterday, the bike had 'just' clicked over 4000km. The oil level was right on the mark.

The internal oil filter is the oil pump pick up screen.
