Good afternoon to everyone. ..i have a bit of a dilemma. .im looking to by a brand new hypermotard.. please bare with me, undestand me if you can. I live in staten island new york. I always wanted a bike (sportbike) when i was young. .i realized that that i was reckless and never pulled the trigger...a sport bike in the city might not be the best thing for me . especially when they just dropped the speed limit to 25 on residential streets...with that i am now older and wiser (i think..lol) and ready for a bike...ok...now...the hyper , being more comute friendly (i think) is the choice id like to settle on....we are all Ducati fans here (obviously ) and i dont , i reapeat dont want to affend anyone....but here is my confusion.......ready???!!!....i hear and read so much negativity on the hyper that its not even funny....again bare with me....from what ive read...the 2013 model had/has so many problems...i was wondering if the newer models carried the disease too???... i know we don't t live in a perfect world and mechanical things go wrong....but being that this beast (hypermotard ) is Italian and when things go wrong, whether it be under warranty or not..its pricey to fix..even under warranty , not having your bike (because its in the shop) sucks...so who here will be honest to tell me if the hyper is a buy or buy not???... i appreciate the feed back...and honesty is the best policy...Gob Bless...Ride Safe..

I have a 2014 HM SP and have not had any issues but I've only done just over 2500km. I don't use it to commute, weekend warrior only. Extreme fun on the right types of road ie. those with lots of different types of corners. It's early days but all seems good for now.

Stay upright.

I have a 2013 HM SP. I it has 7200 miles on it now. It has been a great bike. I thinkthe 2013 had fueling issues and bike would stall occasionally. I think there was a ECU flash to fix that. I did not have that issue, but I also replace exhaust with Termi full high mount system. So that may have fixed issue. It is a great bike but like stated above ..for the right roads. I don't commute on it it is strictly a weekend fun bike for me.
Also the SP is about 1 inch taller in the seat than the Hyperstrada. I'm 5'10" and 32 inch inseam and I'm on my tip toes when seating on bike. They have a lower seat or it but it is a tall bike. If I was thinking of commuting. I would think the Hyperstrada would be the way to go. I have not ridden the Hyperstrada so I'm only guessing that it would be a more friendlier commuter bike. The motor is the same on both.
I enjoy mine:)
