I think that's part of the reason for it's increased weight relative to the 1199. Steel tank. Sure stops it from expanding though!

There's a few things, the steel tank, the lack of magnesium parts and the swingarm. According to Gaspari (Sportsbike project manager), the DSSA is .9kg heavier.
