Those maps for download are no where . We have had so many 1198 / 1098 where they are not even remotely close. Worst one we had was a 749R. He had tried a map for download and we ran it up ..dangerously lean then decided he didn't want to pay for a tune and fitted the auto tune. Problems is the Microtec and Nemesis auto tune units can't hold cells long enough to take a correct sample on the road and have trouble tuning the off throttle area. This bike in turn ran like pig. Feel free to make your own mind up to what you want to do just remember we do this every day and tune more of these particular units than anyone else. In SA get Neville Lush to tune it and tell him Speedys Motorcycles sent you.

Pretty sure my bike isnt a pig....well maybe it is, has a pretty phat torque curve for a small bike

Thats a fast 1198S.

 

I dont see how you can put a generic map on a bike and say that is is right for that bike. It may be close but is also may be way out in areas throught the curve. The only was to tune it right IMO is to tune the bike on a dyno and map each cylinder separately.

I actually used the DUCSHOP map as a base map for a second map tweaked on the dyno,
but I thought maybe the OP wanted a quick map from someone to work from as a base...

It does the job, but my technician might have taken me for a ride. He was complaining the microtec maps wern't going to be as accurate as having a PCV . I always trusted my bike with him as he also has a DUC race team up here in Toronto/Canada . He explained the microtec will be tweaked as much as it could, each cylinder individually on the dyno and then piggy back the PC5 for a the most accurate map per cylinder , because the the companies are the same( dynometer and PCV)

I agreed to it ,now I have both the microtec being used and PCV
I might have gotten taken for a ride but the bike runs great , so what ever

 

Would the different grade of fuel here be a issue ? Don't know just saying .

 

Got the microtec 2nd hand from someone that was using it in a race car running a 1198s engine.
He is now using a Honda car engine with a supercharger due to better reliability.

When I hooked it up to my bike things started to get weird hence the need for a tuner.
Will also need to reset original base maps as I am not sure what the current map is all about.

 

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahh piggy back and a stand alone ECU.... Geez how the fuck do these guys stay in business both products are great and neither requires the other. Prince Albert sounds like your tuner requires some lessons on very basic tuning. Someone giving out advice like that should not be working on motorcycles yet lawn mowers. What next a Rexxa / Pro Tune flash.

honestly, if you're happy with the way it delivers power, how much power it makes, and how much fuel it burns then I'd be tempted to say leave it as is.

like TPK said there is no need to have a stand alone ECU AND a piggyback module (PCV is a piggy back, it's what you use to trim factory maps up or down a bit to get a better result).

and the theory that the piggyback is made by dynojet and he has a dynojet dyno and that somehow makes it a better option is just plain wrong. the two things have nothing to do with each other.

but yeah, if you're happy with the set-up I wouldn't be rushing out to spend more money on it.

 

Where about are you at what country and city... Might know a good tuner in area ..
