The bike is "Officially" launched as of today! Here's what we know so far:
* Titanium con-rods
* Higher Rev limit (12,000 RPM)
* Lighter flywheel
* CF engine cover on clutch side. This is not the DP part. It replaces the magnesium part
* Adjustable swingarm pivot by 2mm increments (Standard or -2mm or -4mm)
* Larger rear sprocket (41T)
* Comes with all the CF as noted and the Racing Evo Termignoni Full-system.
* Another new exhaust has been designed exclusively for racing. It is named the Racing Pro Exhaust available as an accessory +5-10hp on top but loses down low. It achieves this by a different header pipe (longer) along with a different up-map.
* The gas tank is beautifully painted on the top with red. See the attached photos and on the web.

Huh, it amazes me they came out with this bike, basically for the titanium conrods and lighter crank they will be running in WSBK. They must have been doing a lot of testing and realized they really needed those two things. The adjustable swing arm pivot point is VERY interesting...
Any word on price? It can't be much more then the S, it doesn't appear to be that much better technically.

I can't see them charging more than $30K here in the states. Seems all the other R models are $40K, but I would think that a bit excessive since it's not that much different.
I guess the new number board stripes, are just a more modern version seeing as most now have funky numbers on their race bikes. I agree it would have looked great with some light gold colour magnesium colour wheels.
I am surprised that they kept the electronic suspension. Racers would not need this, unless they just need it for homologiation so they can use their race adaptive suspension, similar to the HP4.
The engine parts are understandable for racing conditions.
Remember in 2014 the WSBK rules mean the bikes again have to be road going homologiation. The current bikes, take the Kawasaki and Aprilia for example are so far away from stock as not to be funny).
I think it should come in around the tricolour price, but in Australia who knows what the importer will do.

Pretty dissapointing really.
It will look like every other Pani S out there with a weird tank on it, and you get a engine that revs higher with no bottom end...
I wonder how they made the swingarm pivot adjustments - could it be retro fitted like they are doing to the BMW's?

I won't believe the HP #'s til I see a dyno figure proving it, bet my S1K will still take the R model

As a former 1198s Corse owner I absolutely love the raw aluminum tank look. However, that would be only addition to my Tri to make it pretty much same. And since I've dumped about 10k into that so far I won't be cking this move anytime soon. Maybe I'll get the tank and have a custom paintjob done by my close friend Sean at Connecticut cycle refinishing.
I applaud Ducati for making an R but I'm not drooling or in awe. Wish they made the Tri more exclusive and unique like the Corse, with its production number on it. Oh well.

I like the aluminum tanks and how they did them with the corse se 1198 bikes. That looked great. It looks good on the panigale RS race bike as well with all of the black carbon fiber fairings. For some reason though it looks like crap on the new "R". Just something about the parts that are and are not painted not flowing with the rest of the bike like the above listed examples do.
I like the fact that it has titanium con rods because titanium anything is just cool. I kinda like the understated paint scheme, but think it would've been cooler with manual adjustable dampeners.
I don't like the look of the panigale and clicked on the email from Ducati half hoping it would be a different shaped bike, with one exhaust exiting through the tail and a dry clutch, like the gp bike.
Wishful thinking, but I like what they did with what they had to work with. White # plates are cooler though.
I know the titanium con rods are to allow for WSBK tuning, but it seems funny to raise the redline from 11,500 to 12,000 when torque already peaked before 10k and the horsepower peaked before 11k. You still spinning faster little guy? Where you goin?

I think the "R" is being diluted with every new model .
The R bikes used to be something very special I don't see that with this bike most upgrades can be performed on a standard model .

I think it will be north of $35k, due to the upgrades and full carbon panels.

I'd rather have a 1098r/1198r/Bayliss Ed instead, this just looks like a S with an aluminum tank. There is nothing "flagship" about this R IMHO. Being back the white number plates.
