I have a 1996 M900 and 2001 M750.
The 916 is a hard bike to ride for any distance. If you a looking at a 916/996 consider a 848. Better ergos and much more power.

As for the Monster, it is a totally different machine. Stock it is very upright.
I am currently building my M750 into a Cafe'.
The bodywork is at the painters now.
The parts are available everywhere.

Working on the front end now.

 

If I had to do it again, I might choose a M900 over a 750.
Many parts are the same, but there seems to be more availability for the M900.
