What is the difference in the paint from the current 2011 Artic White vs the 2008-2010 Pearl white?

I've seen the 2010 Pearl white and fell in love. Ordered a 2011, but just now realizing the name is different.....I am hoping it is the same paint, just a diff name???
Can anyone chime in? Thx!

I've yet to see the Arctic white in person.... but from what I gather it's definitely different. Think matte stealth Evo, but white instead of black. The older paint is high gloss with a bit of metallic in it; hence "pearl."

The new one also comes with a red frame and wheels. Not my cup of tea, but whatever floats your boat.

Ya, that might happen. I guess I'll see it when it gets delivered. Closest dealer to me is a 3 hour drive and they offered to deliver the bike....It just arrived late last week, so it should be at my doorstep early this week......needless to say I am pretty damn excited!!!! First duc ;)
I've been good with not telling most of my friends....just to make the impact of them seeing it that much better; However I suppose the ppl on this forum all own a Duc.

I hope I like the artic white. Not a fan of red fairings, and the stealth black was my 2nd option but didn't like the mass fingerprints that it would attract. I've never seen the Artic white in person, but I have the pearl white and I fell in love with the Pearl white. I figured if I was spending this much moola on a new bike, I may as well get what I want, so I held out for a 2011 due to the white+red rims/frame.

Im stoked! sry for the long rant :)

When I bought mine they had just discontinued the white so I ended up with a used one. I considered a new stealth but it seemed a shame to paint such a pretty bike like something the Amish would have in their barn.:stickpoke

I am no expert but I have seen an arctic white 848. as far as i can tell, the Arctic white is the same as the Pearl White minus the top coat. the color is the same but it is a bit "Rough" looking. I do not mean this in a bad way. The finish is like the 848 dark.

I was going to get the matte black evo to replace the matte black monster but then I saw the arctic white with those rims "as red as the devil's dick" :devilsmok and had to have it. It looks even better in the sunlight and sometimes gives off a silvery sheen. Not the same as the pearl white. Only problem is it's a head-turner and attracts a lot of attention because every time I stop people come over to stare and ask questions taking time away from riding...

The arctic white is a flat paint - it looks like the gel-coat primer that comes on race-bodywork. It will be a nightmare to keep looking good.

If it were me, I'd take the bike to get a couple nice coats of clear-coat straight away. The white with red is spectacular looking, but flat paint is miserable to keep nice. You can't polish it, bugs and dirt stick to it like velcro. Flat paint is nice for garage queens, but not practical for bikes that get ridden (IMHO). :)
