I'm neutral, though I've never chosen to use them. I've seen that there are cases where they help; and others where they caused far worse damage than would've happened without them. Which do you plan on having?

 

Having binned the Desmo on it's 1st ride, the day after it was delivered, coming out've my drive (due to there being hardly any air in the front tyre) I'm sliders all the way...I have them on everything! The sickener is I'd ordered some & hadn't been to pick them up...expensive mistake that was!

 

If your simply trying to protect the bike around town, it for sure doesn't hurt to buy axel sliders and frame sliders. The smallish crashes you may have, for sure can be helped with axel sliders, especially in the rear because the swing arm dents easily.

On the track however, axel sliders are very annoying because they're difficult to re-assemble in between tire changes.

I never ran axel sliders, but I did run very strong rear sets AND frame sliders. Both of which protected my frame very nicely the three times I went down on my superbikes. In fact, not a single scratch to the frame on any of my crashes. I'm for sure a believer in under fairing frame sliders, they're worth their weight in gold as far as I'm concerned since they're cheap insurance.

 

I had the t-Rex I like the concept but found my self hitting them all the time. Got rid of them and went with speedy moto front,frame (under fairing) and rear. Love the looks, fit and form.

 

Speedymoto on the front axle and under the fairings. Thinking of picking up a set of case and water pump guards too.

 

I have Speedy-Moto front and rear sliders. For protection they are great. The rear sliders are annoying though, as you really end up needing 2 stands for the rear of the bike... 1 double sided stand for storage, then a single sided stand for service ( you cant get the single sided stand through the axle with the sliders installed). Or the 1 center-lift stand.. but I just dont have the floorspace in my garage for that stand

I want to go with the under-fairing sliders as well. I have run the normal frame sliders in the past, but on the track they tend to dig in to the dirt/grass when the bike slides off course, and do more damage then good.

Normal frame sliders on the street were good for me. The only time I ever needed them to work, they did their job

 

Speedymoto is the way to go. After hitting a deer last May, they worked flawlessly. I have the front, rear, and under body sliders. The under body sliders worked better than expected. The right side panel held up and didn't rub all the way through the plastic. Sliders definitely help out. Only a few minor scuffs on the right side of the front sliders. I also have the Rhino bar ends and those did their job as well.

 

Rhino doesn't get enough credit I really like mine.

 

I've got LighTech frt and rear and T-Rex for frame. I use an Abba middle stand to lift the bike so I don't need to remove the rear sliders except to remove sprocket or wheel. Never had to test em yet but I have friends who have and they do their job. I like the red accents on the LighTech sliders and T-Rex sliders. They R pretty!!

 

I'm all for the slider protection, I'm just curious about how other owners feel about the look, does the pucks sticking out change the appearance in a good way or bad way in your opinion? One thing I love about the Ducati is the clean look of the wheel with the single sided swing arm, yesterday I put on t rex rear axle sliders, and they stick out pretty far, I won't take em off because I want the protection, it just changed the look of the wheel now. Maybe I just need to get accustomed to it, but it kind of reminds me of training wheels on a bicycle. The front axle sliders look fine, you'd hardly notice them, and the t rex frame slider kit, I like the set up so it doesn't take away from the look of the bike to me. Rear axle? Ehhh

 

I'm a big fan of the SSSA I don't think it takes away.

 

I prefer the look with them on the rear- i think it cleans up the look. Without them, you can see into the axle... and all the nasty shit that finds its way inside the axle.

 

I run CNC front axle sliders (ran Sato up front for a couple of years and they served me well, just wanted to change it up), SpeedyMoto under fairing frame sliders, with just a carbon swingarm cover for SA protection. No rear axle sliders due using a rear stand for track use.

This is a no brainer for me, love my set up 100% People bitch about it taking time away from removing your wheel, but it takes only a minute to take them off to remove your wheel...C'mon now. I use my rear stand every time after I ride and I never have had issues with the SM set up. I see it all the time where people have the front and under body sliders but won't fork out the extra cash for the rear cuz you want to use your PB stand? To each his own I suppose, but why not go for the extra protection? Trust me, they work when needed.

 

They just seem to look longer than other ones I've seen, I liked the speedy moto ones, but I went with t rex just because the previous owner already had t rex frame sliders installed. My ocd again lol

 

And no I don't keep her dirty lol, it is raining today in N.Y. and I rode before work

 

I use Speedymoto frame sliders and front axle sliders (which already helped me once). I used rear axle sliders too when it was a street bike, but on the track I can't because you can't put it on the rear stand with sliders on.

 

I only ride street, I've never been to the track, and don't really plan to. Knowing that they are for protection I'm all for having them, but do you think they take away from the aesthetics of the bike, the clean look?

 

It doesn't matter what anyone thinks but you. However you are already miles ahead (its a Ducati!).

 

Personally, I don't care about aesthetics so much. I care about practicality...my bike doesn't look all that great, I painted it myself, it's got some scratches and rubber marks from my boots, and often times I lean it against a wall if I don't have a rear stand nearby since it doesn't have a kickstand...but it's damn fast and corners like a dream!

People's opinions don't matter to me about what I have or don't have, I was just curious to see if anyone didn't have sliders on purely for cosmetic reasons. My friend ribs me all the time about taking them off cause he says the bike looks ugly with em. He's got none on his 848. To each his own

 

Wait til he drops it & it costs him, he'll wish he had them then!

 

^ Damn Moly!!! I feel your pain!! I have crashed mine 5 or 6 times, one time @about 160mph!!
only hurt a bunch of minor stuff, plastic, clip-ons, never any thing major... Ducatis crash very good! Never, never, had any sliders installed.

 

I can see how the bike can survive that, but how does an old guy not break in a 160 mph crash?

 

Didn't break a bone!!! Kinda knocked me out,... for a couple of years!!! So far!!
