I did a search but did not find what i needed.
I am trying to install the integrated blinker/brake light kit.
I have removed all the bolts.
Removed slip-ons.

It's somewhat loose but the under tail and cowl are attached to one another some how?

Help? Wanted to ride today but I might have messed that up.

Did you remove the two screws that are under the Seat. You actually have to peel back the seat slightly from above. Slide your fingers under the seat near the back on each side. You only have to expose about one inch of the seat. Hard to explain, gave it my best. I believe the allen wrench is in your tool kit.

You do not need to take the exaust off to remove the tail. All you need is the two Allen wrenches in the tool kit.
Remove the rear seat and then the front seat (2 screws)
Remove the two front screws under the front seat and then the two larger screws in the rear tray.
Remove the black screws on the bottom side (3 on each side).
That is all the screws that you need to remove.
Push forward on the tail and it should pop loose. Be carefull not to force it to hard or you could break the built in tabs!
When you get the tail off there are two bolts holding the tail light in. remove the tail light, install the new one and reverse the process.

Hope this helps!!:smoking:

Good job Bossman. Great instructions.

Here is a photo with the seat off so you can see the 4 bolts under it.
The black trim can be a pain, when trying to push the tail forword.

I had to remove the rear cowl because I needed to replace the tail/brake light with a one that had blinkers built into it.

The removal of the slip on's make this possible.

Take license plate off. You will find 3 allen bolts, that attach a cover, that contains the wires for the blinkers and license plate light.
Then you can see the 2 bolts that attach that assembly to the bike.
Remove slip on's

Once you remove all the bolts you encounter, the cowl and black undertail are left. They are connected to one another by some small clips. I forget now but I want to say you move the undertail towards the front of the bike while holding the cowl towards the rear and they will "unlock" from one another.

O yeah, don't forget to drop one of the bolts into the mid pipe. This bolt slid nearly to the front of the header. The removal of the large bolt (19mm i think) allowed me to fish it out with a magnet. Good times:(

This may help
